For software founders, CTOs and owners

Your company’s codebase could be worth A$60,000 or more.

Private repositories with real review history are the asset AI training buyers want most. Potential value only, subject to individual appraisal and agreed rights.

A SIMPLE HELLOAbout 20 seconds

Where can we say g’day?

Leave your name and email and we’ll get in touch. You can tell us about your project next, if you like.

Goodwattle buys and licenses company-owned codebases and supplies them, verified and scoped, to the vendors that build training data and evaluation environments for AI labs. Your product can keep running: a non-exclusive licence leaves ownership with you.

Why buyers want company code

Public code has been read. Yours hasn’t.

What AI training buyers are short of is private, professional engineering with its history intact.

01

Real review history

Pull requests with human review comments show how professional engineers reason about code. That history is the most valued part of a repository.

02

Never public, never licensed

Code that has never been published or licensed for AI use is new to buyers. We ask about both early.

03

Tests, tickets and docs

Tests, linked tickets and design documents make a codebase easier to turn into training tasks and evaluation environments.

What we look for

Checked against the buyer screen.

This is the screen buyers currently apply to private repositories. Missing an item doesn’t rule you out; it tells us what to ask about.

  • Your company owns the code, with employee and contractor IP assigned
  • The repository has never been public and never licensed or sold for AI use
  • Around 250 or more merged pull requests with human review
  • Intact git history, not a single squashed snapshot
  • Mostly human-written code, with any AI-generated share disclosed
  • Third-party, open-source and client code identified so it can be excluded

Please leave out credentials, customer data and confidential code for now. A non-confidential overview is enough.

What it could pay

A$60,000 or more is possible. It isn’t a minimum.

Substantial company codebases that meet the screen can be worth A$60,000 or more. Smaller or partial codebases can range from A$200 to A$10,000. Value depends on size, review depth, quality, rights and what buyers need at the time. Every codebase is appraised individually; some will not be a fit, and offers can be lower.

Before anything changes hands

Verified, matched and in writing.

01

A verification standard

We check ownership, public-code overlap, licences, secrets and personal information before anything is offered. See how we verify.

02

Known buyer types

We supply vendors that build coding datasets, software-engineering benchmarks and reinforcement-learning environments for AI labs. See what buyers receive.

03

Written terms

Scope, permitted uses, exclusivity and payment are agreed in a written contract before handover. Nothing is sold or licensed by sending an enquiry.

From old work
to a new conversation.

  1. 1

    Say g’day

Leave your name, email and an optional phone number. We save your enquiry straight away; project details and a small sample can follow if you like.

  2. 2

    Explore the fit

A real person reviews your overview. We discuss the opportunity and arrange confidentiality before a detailed review.

  3. 3

    Consider an offer

If there’s a fit, we put the scope, rights, intended uses and payment in writing. You decide whether to proceed.

A purchase. A licence. A possibility.

A purchase can transfer agreed rights. A licence can let you keep ownership while permitting specific uses, including AI research, training or evaluation. We can discuss a fixed payment, revenue share or ongoing arrangement where suitable. Nothing is sold or licensed by sending an enquiry.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Good questions.
Honest answers.

Your work. Your next chapter.
Let’s make the possibilities clear.

How much can I get paid?

Smaller projects can range from A$200 to A$10,000. Substantial company-owned codebases can be worth A$60,000 or more. Value depends on complexity, quality, contents, rights and fit. Every project is evaluated individually; these figures are possibilities, not guaranteed offers.

Is A$60,000 a minimum or a guaranteed offer?

No. A$60,000 or more is a possibility for suitable substantial company codebases. Every codebase is reviewed individually; offers may be lower and some codebases will not be a fit.

Can we keep running the product?

Yes. A non-exclusive licence lets your company keep owning, shipping and selling the software while permitting agreed AI training or evaluation uses. An outright purchase is also possible and is scoped separately.

Are you buying the company?

No. The conversation is about selected code and development materials. A codebase purchase or licence is separate from a sale of your company, customer data or operating business.

How do you handle confidential source code?

Start with a non-confidential description. We agree confidentiality and a review process before any detailed handover. Do not submit credentials, customer data or code you cannot share.

What does an AI training buyer do with our code?

Typically it becomes training examples, evaluation tasks or reinforcement-learning environments for coding models. Permitted uses are listed in the contract, with any limits on publication or redistribution.
